Busy, Recharge, Busy, Recharge, Busy, Busy... +SPECIAL OFFER!

It's been a while... +A SPECIAL OFFER!

HELLO AGAIN ART Grinders! It's been a while since our last post, and (EEK!) we are really sorry for that. But, as summer got here we saw a need to take some time to reconnect with our family and do some family things. It's been a great summer for traveling! We started out summer break with a trip to Estes Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park. This trip was a reset button that really kicked off our summer, a chance to unplug and recharge. When we returned home, we taught the local art camp for a week and then went to Minnesota for a week and a half of lake-side camping, fishing, and boating with good friends. Another great opportunity to disengage and recharge. Since then we have moved our local art center to a new home that will be better situated to impact the community. We are grateful for the support that our community gives to the arts.

I (Matt) have been working on finishing a sculpture for a client that has taken way too long. It is finally entering the finishing stages and will be delivered within the next couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to being able to move on to the next project.

Speaking of next project! I was selected to create an artistic seating area for a really cool project in Marion, Iowa. The Imagine Art in the Alleys project was selected as an ArtPlace America grant recipient. Last week I picked up nearly 4,000 lbs of steel that I now need to cut, grind, shape, weld, grind, sandblast, paint, and deliver before October. Sarah is working on several commissions and developing a really great NEW body of work.

School will be starting up shortly which means that Me and Sarah will be again teaching art, but this year will take on a new twist as we have decided to homeschool all 4 of our boys. Our decision was grounded in the belief that individuals should be engaged in the investigation of their world by doing. We are taking a project/problem based approach where all subjects are connected and inform each other. We hope this approach will allow our boys to find their passion and the time to explore it thoroughly. Sarah will be primarily overseeing this, so I'm sure you will hear from her on that as the year progresses.

To say THANK YOU for sticking around while we regrouped, we have something for you! Have you ever wished that you could get an honest opinion and some guidance on your art, from arts professionals in the field? Here is your chance. This week we would like to offer a special offer to our subscribers. We are giving away 3 free professional art critiques to the first 3 artists who subscribe and respond that they would like to have their work critiqued. Just subscribe below, then send us an email letting us know that you would like your work critiqued. Once we have three winners we will notify you of what we need, so we can get your work critiqued for you.

We hope you are having an epic summer, if you have a story to share let us know!!! Stay tuned to find out who the winners of our FREE critiques are. Thanks for your Patience!

Keep on Grinding...

Matt

All critiques are informed opinions, which are meant to expand understanding, and help you grow as an artist, they are not meant to be understood as the definitive guide, and as such each artist needs to personally evaluate all the opinions of others and decide what, if anything, you would like to do with that information. In no way are TheArtGrind critiques meant to guarantee success or failure in the art world and are only meant to provide a fresh set of eyes and informed feedback on your art.
